Jerrold Levy, MD, of Duke University, discusses some of the late breaking clinical trial data and take-home points from ISTH 2015. The topics of greatest concern to clinicians in practice include: 1) There are evolving strategies for managing bleeding in patients taking direct oral anticoagulants, including the use of prothrombin complex concentrates, 2) the specific reversal strategies for Xa inhibitors and dabigatran are also evolving, 3) the approach to managing peri-procedural anticoagulation is changing due to the introduction of targeted NOAC reversal agents.
