Dr. Victor Tapson of Cedars Sinai discusses results of the INFORM study. This was a retrospective database review of 7000 patients with acute PE and PH symptoms. The study found that 6.2% of patients likely developed PH after an incident of PE. He highlights the importance of following patients after acute PE to identify who may benefit from treatment for chronic PH. He stressed that medical therapy is available for these patients, including riociguat, the only FDA approved drug for CTEPH, for those who are not candidates for surgery.
