Diagnosis IPF, Focus on Environmental Exposure
Drs. Maryl Kreider, Kevin Flaherty, Jesse Roman, and Kevin Gibson discuss a case of IPF diagnosis in a 49-year-old man, with a focus on the evaluation of a full patient history and environmental exposures. Differentiation amongst the interstitial lung diseases is often complex, and the diagnosis often is a result of a combination of findings versus any single finding. This case emphasizes the need for a multi disciplinary approach in diagnosis of IPF, and consideration of referral to a center that offers such an approach.
